Summary/Objective

The CNC Router Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC router machines to cut and shape polycarbonate and other plastic materials according to specifications. This role also includes operating a press brake to bend and form materials as required by production. The ideal candidate will have strong technical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills with a focus on precision and quality.

Essential Functions:

CNC Router Operation

  • Set up and operate CNC routers to cut polycarbonate, acrylic, and other sheet materials.
  • Load materials, align sheets, and secure them for accurate machining.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD files, and work orders.
  • Adjust machine settings to optimize cutting quality and efficiency.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure precision, quality, and compliance with production standards.
Press Brake Operation
  • Set up and operate press brake machinery to form and bend materials per job specifications.
  • Select appropriate tooling and adjust settings for each bend sequence.
  • Verify part dimensions and angles using measurement tools and templates.
Maintenance and Quality Control
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and work areas.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate production records and ensure compliance with safety policies.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment:

Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Travel, evening, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC routers (preferably cutting polycarbonate or plastics).
  • Basic experience with press brake setup and operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Experience with CNC programming (e.g., using VCarve, Fusion 360, or Mastercam).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Forklift certification and/or material handling experience.
