Summary of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Finance Manager and with a high degree of autonomy in day-to-day operations, the Financial Analyst is responsible for managing fiscal operations, payroll administration, and financial analysis and reporting for the Institute for Integrative & Innovative Research (I³R). Key responsibilities include researching and analyzing financial data, developing, and refining financial processes and policies, and preparing comprehensive financial reports.
The Financial Analyst maintains financial databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and quality control in all fiscal matters; and plays a key role in monitoring expenditures, auditing transactional issues, and verifying the accuracy of accounting entries in Workday, including the processing of budget amendments and accounting adjustments.
This position also leads the preparation and monitoring of iLab billing for the Institute, coordinating with researchers and core facility staff to ensure accurate service tracking and timely invoicing. In addition, the Analyst manages RIF and start-up fund distributions and allocations, ensuring proper budgeting, compliance with institutional policies, and effective financial reporting.
The Analyst oversees payroll administration with a high degree of independence, ensuring the accuracy and timely execution of payroll processes, including costing allocations, accounting adjustments, and payroll entries. Providing data-driven insights to the Finance Manager is a critical aspect of this role, supporting strategic planning and decision-making. The Analyst also collaborates with administrators and Institute leadership to inform and guide financial strategy and operations through sound analysis and reporting.
