To transfer product from inbound trucks to storage areas.
This position is from Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Stores product by product and lot number using an industrial forklift or hand lift. Works from written or verbal instructions. Operates forklift to pick up, move, place and position materials or products as required. Performs routine servicing of equipment such as fueling, and checking fluid levels and tires. Notifies the maintenance department of any major issues or repairs.
Prepares inventory reports and paperwork, to monitor and account for inventory by lot and product number. Handles ingredients safely and by following company quality standards. Communicates with shift managers to schedule deliveries and pick-ups with Simmons facility.
Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Material Handler and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.
Physical Activities: Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, move or lift product weighing up to 75 pounds from floor to shoulder height. (Dry Pet - up to 55 pounds)
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Eye protection, ear protection, steel toed shoes. Any as needed or required.
Travel: Uses company vehicles within a 60 mile radius.
Technical Experience: Basic computer skills. Must be able to pass and maintain company issued forklift license/certification. Knowledge of production scheduling is a plus.
Industry Experience: Preference for warehouse setting handling ingredients.
Minimum Education: Must be able to read, write and speak English, and perform basic math.
Preferred Education: High School Diploma/GED.
Competencies: Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team. Ability to troubleshoot issues.
