Section 1
Summary of the Purpose and Objective
This position is responsible for entry-level non-skilled general labor while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson's policies and procedures. Applicants will be considered for any utility available labor type opening on any shift, such as day, evening, or night shift. Applicants will work in different departments as needed, including but not limited to Tortilla, Taco, Corn, and Packing. This position will be required to learn multiple jobs in the facility, including machine operator jobs. The position may require you to work in hot and or cold environments. Standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting up to 40 pounds may be required. Must be able to work weekends and overtime.
Section 2
Description of Primary Duties and Responsibilities
COMPLETED LOCKOUT/TAGOUT TRAINING REQUIRED before training or operating line. General knowledge of all the departments and jobs in the utility department, including general labor, machine operator, and lead. May operate press, bagger, fryer, seasoner, blender, pack out, or sheeter equipment per the SOP as defined in the Production Manual. Prepares for start-up or shut down of equipment. Keeps a legible, accurate record as required, including the Line Operator's Log. Stop the machine to make the required adjustments, following the lockout-tagout policy. Responsible for notifying the Supervisor and/or QA of contamination. Must adhere to all safety policies and safely operate equipment. Responsible for monitoring and reporting any wear and tear on equipment. Must be able to perform the Machine Operators Training Checklist job tasks by the end of the 10-working day trial period. Ensure product specifications are met in accordance with customers' written specifications. Must adhere to all safety policies and safely operate equipment. Responsible for monitoring and reporting any wear and tear on equipment. Data must be entered into the Plant View system. Maintains good manufacturing practices and personal hygiene. Keeps department clean and neat. Work as a team member toward task accomplishments. Responsible for following company policies/procedures, written or verbal. Performs all other tasks as assigned.
Section 3
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required for the Position
Requires flexibility of wrists and hands. Walking, bending, standing, and lifting are required. Lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to move to different lines as needed. Must be able to train and learn machine operator duties to be a backup. Must be able to train and learn lead duties to be a backup. Must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Section 4
Training (Equipment & Methods)
The designated Trainer will conduct job-specific training on the shift. Team members will be evaluated on job performance under the Training Program SOP. SPC training conducted by a designated trainer. Documentation and agenda kept by Quality Control. Their immediate supervisor will conduct monthly training on a safety topic and a GMP topic based on information provided by the safety director and QA manager.
Section 5
Job Safety Analysis
Personal Protective Equipment: smock, hair net, ear plugs, slip-resistant shoes, and safety glasses. Will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. Will be occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. Will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection.
